About this wine
Type: Red wine Origin: Waiheke Island, New Zealand Vintage: 2009 Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon (58%), Merlot (22%), Cabernet Franc (10%), Malbec (8%), Petit Verdot (2%) Alcohol: 14.1% Ageing: 10-15 months in French and American Oak Limited bottling: ~2,676 bottles produced Enjoy from: 4-12 years from vintage - can be drunk now Tasting notes: Dark and garnet in color with tinges of purple. In the glass, the aroma expresses currants, raspberry and cedar with a slight hint of vanilla. Initially the 2009 Mystae is more restrained than the Destinae, but with a short decant it reveals its aromatic complexity. On the mid-palate, the Cabernet Sauvignon takes the lead giving this wine depth and structure while the Merlot and Petit Verdot give a round and long finish. The fruit quality that is present on the finish suggests long term cellaring will be rewarded with complex tertiary flavors.

My neighborhood wine shop
“La Bodega has been with us through thick and thin. I can walk in, taste their wines and bring them home. My happy place.”
Perfect quality service
“From choosing the wines to serving them to our restaurant guests — perfect quality, customer service with a plus!”
Definitely a buy
“Complex on the palate yet light-bodied… similar if not better than a Johnny 18.”
Ah… Albariño!
“Good body, hints of citrus and the salinity you’d expect from a Rías Baixas. I’ll be stocking more.”
What a surprise!
“I expected generic red wine notes, but this over-delivered. It felt like it had a story to tell. 10 out of 10!”
Best chorizo experience
“Chorizo con tortilla de patata for brunch — we had the best experience with this brand. Strongly recommend.”
